Moon Jar Vases

Moon Jar Vases

For the vase collection, I worked a lot on exploring glazes, experimenting with different techniques and firings.
The difference between clay, stoneware and glaze melts into different layers that cover the shapes, but without taking this classic distinction too much into account.
Working with ceramics for me is like painting: the pastiness of the glaze, the colour, the brushstrokes on the surface of the pot, create a whole with the form that remains respectfully traditional.

Unique works are a part of my production of art ceramics. Before turning to ceramics, I worked for many years with painting on linen and jute, and it is this training that strongly influences the way I work with ceramics.

Vasi con punti

Vasi con punti

This is an ever-evolving pot collection. The theme is the exploration of enamel and white surfaces applied in different layers and firing until the desired surface and white shade is reached.
Pots differ in size and shape.

For the collection of pots, I worked on the exploration of reactive enamels that have rough surfaces with craters, experimenting with various techniques and firings.
The measures are variable. Some pots are fired many times to achieve the desired result.

The plates are all moulded on a lathe and decorated with cobalt oxide on white matt enamel. The drawings are improvised without reference models or preparatory sketches.  Portraits, vegetation and animals are the themes stimulating my painting both on canvas and ceramic. Each plate is a unique piece.
