fioo growing wall
Ceramic is an essential element for many cultures in human history: its naturalness is part of the collective subconscious.
Indeed, ceramic has a peculiar haptic and tone, has a strong aesthetic impact and acquires character with time, and is a sustainable material.
“fioo was born out of the desire to create a vertical ceramic garden with a strong artistic expression, to bring art and nature into an indoor space”

System
fioo growing wall is the result of an intensive collaboration between expert ceramists, green engineers and architects, who have been able to interpret the artistic design while respecting its original characteristics.
Every single ceramic element is made entirely by hand in the handicraft workshop based in Vienna.
The fioo system consists of ceramic pots connected by porcelain tubes.
At the base of each system is a water reservoir, also made of ceramic, with a small pump that ensures independent watering of the plants.
"Living in Vienna, I developed a nostalgia for the places of my childhood. Big agaves or cacti standing out from the rocky walls that end up in the sea - these are very strong images that inspire my production."

In this closed-loop system, excess water returns to the reservoir; semi-hydroculture allows the plant to absorb or release water as needed.
fioo is a flexible modular system with elements screwed directly to the wall.
The minimum recommended module consists of three pots, three connecting pipes and a water reservoir, but elements can be combined and multiplied to cover walls of any size.

Ceramics
fioo is the result of handwork and craftsmanship.
Elements of fioo are molded from different types of stoneware (hard-paste clay) that, through different mixtures, have different colors and textures: black, sand, red, and white.
Additional special mixtures are created by adding oxides of various metals to the stoneware, achieving ornamental results.
The stoneware is hand-pressed into laboratory-produced plaster forms, then dry-dried, engobed, single-fired at 1250 °C, or biscuit-fired at 980 °C, glazed and re-fired at 1250 °C.
“Ceramic has a distinctive haptics and tone, has a great aesthetic impact and gains character with time, as well as being a sustainable material.”

Plants and vertical garden
Three planting scenarios have been developed specifically for fioo that can be selected according to the greening objective.
We do not engage in direct plant sales, these are just imputs to inspire our customers and gardeners.
Into the jungle: a lush green mix of climbers and upright plants, working primarily through their foliage.
Fine with fern: the sturdy fronds of fern plants transport the viewer into the rainforest. If desired, orchids can strongly support this decorative look.
Dry artist: with the composition of succulent plants acting mainly through their very expessive growth form.
We have made available (at the moment only in German) a selection of plants that you can download below.

Your fioo
fioo growing wall is a modular system easy to compose and install yourself.
The wall sculptures can be customised in materials and colours: the individual ceramic elements can be all the same or different from each other, so you can customize your own version in a unique work of art.
For us it is important to design fioo in close contact with the customer; it is therefore possible to request a consultation to define the quantity of modules to be combined or to design a site-specific installation, in order to best bring out the identity of a place.
An integral part of the process is also the choice of plants; fioo would not exist without the beauty of nature. We have divided with great care out plants in sections; together they will give life to the work.
Fiorenza Ceramics designs, produces and delivers the elements and, if necessary, organize their assembly, and provides advice to trusted gardeners for the choice of plants and their maintenance.
